Us is a collective portrait of survival, dignity, and truth-telling. It’s an invitation to change society’s conversation around the experience of living with sexual assault.

The project began in 2016 in Aotearoa New Zealand with photographer and victim-survivor Megan Bowers-Vette. After two years, it grew into a journey across New Zealand and Australia, resulting in 50 photographic portraits and a 270-page publication of first-person testimony.

Us is Coming to Melbourne

In 2026, after 10 years,  Us returns and will include 10 new testimonials from Naarm/Melbourne survivors. These new photos and stories will sit alongside a curated selection from the original portraits, maintaining the project's founding number of 50 voices.

To change the culture of shame for victim-survivors of sexual assault, there’s only one condition: you have to show your face and say your name.

Be brave, show your face, say your name and tell your story. If you’re in Melbourne and would like to be featured in this exhibition, reach out at info@usproject.com.au. And if you’re not sure yet and have questions, ask away.

Share your story and be part of the upcoming Us Melbourne exhibition. Email us at info@usproject.com.au.
